and the point is?

What is the point taking part in an online community if the community you are taking part in just takes the mick? I mean, giving out blog candy, telling someone they sre a winner then never sending anything??? Then saying you will but ignoring mails?

Oh well, lesson learnt i guess

Straight to the point

Hey,
I never know what to write on this bit, you know the lead up to the card so this time I will just get on with it!

I made this card after messing around with some chalks on an embossed piece of cardstock. I wanted to know what it would look like to colour with chalks. I really like the soft effect the chalks make but it is very easy to make a mistake as the dust can go everywhere.

The recipe was:
Silver cardstock for the card
Purple paper from a stack i got ages ago, no name sorry
White cardstock
Purple ink
Bling
Silver ribbon
Cuttlebug
Stylised flowers embossing folder

I wont insult you by going through the process of putting the card together as it is fairly evident from the picture what went where. I did have fun with this card and tried pens/ pencils as well as the chalk but preferred the chalk final image.

What a break

It has been so busy here lately that I have not had time to craft very much. I have been to my crafting group though and made the card below.

I really love the Iris fold and the effects you can get with it. It is so simple yet looks really effective and quite complicated!

The recipe for the card is:
Plain white cardstock for the card and top layer
Red holographic card
various strips of pink and white paper
Pink sparkly paper for the iris
white cord
Red brads
A calligraphy pen for the sentiment

I have a pattern for the balloon iris fold which I found online a while ago. I cut out the balloon shape from the white cardstock and laid a white cord over the neck part of the balloon. I then completed the pattern for the iris fold and layered the card up with the red holographic card.
I then tied a length of cord to the cord layered on the neck of the balloon and used silicone glue to seal the end to prevent fraying.

One thing I have found with the Iris fold is that it is just as effective to use one layer of paper i.e. no folds, if you have thicker paper. You can also use ribbon for a really cool effect.

Card Craft Group part 1

Hiya,

Myself and a few friends have decided to get together and form a craft group. We meet every week (when we can) and sit, chat and craft together.

The following card was made at the first meet. There were free range eggs (thanks Sue), coffee and a whole lotta crafting going on.

Basically the recipe was:
Purple cardstock for the main card,
Baby Blue cardstock for layering
Multicoloured striped paper from The Little Angels by SMIRK
Glossy Photo card (the kind you print photos on)
Purple Ribbon
Sizzix flower embossing folder
little pearl dots
Purple whispers Ink
Pearlescent Sky Blue Ink by Brilliance
Purple and Green metallic pens by Crayola
Fiskars Threading Water Punch

My what a lot of stuff!
The top layer was achieved by dabbing on the Sky Blue Ink and letting it dry, I then dabbed the Purple Whispers on top of it and slightly rubbed it with a tissue (basically a resist.) For some reason the sky blue really shone through the purple and created a super look.

I put it through the Cuttlebug with the Sizzix embossing folder after it had dried and thought it needed something extra to make the flower really stand out. I found my metallic markers and coloured away! You can still see the purple and blue ink under the purple metallic pen which made it really pretty.

As you can see, I punched all three cardstock pieces and then layered them onto the purple base. The ribbon is threaded through a small slit I made in the card with my craft knife.

I hope you like it as much as I do.

If you have any questions, fire away!

Birthday for a friend?

Well, I haven't gotton my phone back yet but I did find this card I made a while ago on my computor and decided to share it with you.

Now I am not generally one to go out and just throw a card together. Mine need to be layed out, planned and really thought about. This one however was totally the opposite and I think turned out really well!

I used a basic green leaf patterned paper (from where I forget) and layered on, at an angle some pink handmade paper. I took a plain white piece of cardstock and cuttlebugged it with Cuttlebugs Script embossing folder.

Then came the clever (far me lol) part, I rubbed green chalk onto the writing. I had a nightmare trying to get it on with the silly little brush the chalk people provided so ended up using an eyeshadow brush! It worked wonders and didn't flake off into the white area either!

That was then layered onto the card and the excess chopped off, but you can see that, right? lol I then got two random flowers from the huge stock I have collected form fake flower dropoffs etc and made a brad to stick one down. The other I attached a butterfly charm to the tendrils and stuck it on using clear pop dots.

Lastly I used my Nestability scalloped ovals to make the sentiment holder, inked up my words and stuck it down using pop dots.

I really like this card. I might have to save it for me lol!

IPhone to No Phone!

I did a really silly thing yesterday. I dropped my phone down the loo! UGH gross! Let me explain lol, we have a speaker system in the bathroom and I had the phone plugged in and playing. Somehow, I have no idea how, it took a dive into the loo! Luckily a clean loo lmao.

The biggest laugh was watching how fast the tech guy dropped the phone when i casually mentioned where it had been. I had cleaned it up and it was only water but it made me giggle. So I am now two weeks without my phone, that means I cannot upload any new photos until I get a new one. It also means tons of piccies when i get it back!

Anyway, here is a card I made for a friends wedding. She wanted a plain and simple invitation but after seeing some samples said she liked this one best!

I used the Fiskars Threading Water Punch to punch out the scalloped shape onto white card and silver paper. This was then layered onto a white card base. I cut out three hearts using the Cuttlebug Heart #1 and silver paper and punched the second of the hearts (topper) in white card. Themiddle plain heart was stuck on the white card.

The top layer is vellum punched again with the Fiskars punch and secured on with silver ribbon. I then stuck the top and bottom hearts on.

The inner is printed vellum held in place, again, by the ribbon.

I was really pleased at how this one turned out.

Wierded out

Ok, Now I am weirded out! I seem to have two blogs! I have no idea where the other came from but I posted the following on 13th March and it has not appeared here but on another blog.

Title: First Blog Ever!

Well, this being my first ever blog I have ever written, I am a tad excited! I am going to use it to hopefully showcase a few cards I have made.

This week being Mothers day I have been working on a number of cards for various mums in my family and post one for you to look at. I hope you like it! I am using my phone camera so it might not be the best light quality (no flash!)

Getting used to it!

Ok so it has just taken me half an hour to figure out how on earth I post here again. As you can see I made it and all (I hope) is well!

I have been rather busy with the other caps I wear this week so have not been able to make as many cards as I would like to. I have however managed to make one for my Father in Laws birthday.
I always find male cards difficult, he is not really into pretty pink bows or flowers lol. I am rather pleased with this one however.

It is a gold cardstock base with a piece of patterened paper I got out of a Create and craft box! I then embossed a corner scroll in gold embossing powder. The sentiment is made the same way by embossing in gold after layering the paper. Not too girly and not overly macho so could be used for a female card too.

This week I am going to try harder to make some new cards...oh yes I am! That is if the school, playgroup, art course, freegle and my DD let me lol.
