Straight to the point

Hey,
I never know what to write on this bit, you know the lead up to the card so this time I will just get on with it!

I made this card after messing around with some chalks on an embossed piece of cardstock. I wanted to know what it would look like to colour with chalks. I really like the soft effect the chalks make but it is very easy to make a mistake as the dust can go everywhere.

The recipe was:
Silver cardstock for the card
Purple paper from a stack i got ages ago, no name sorry
White cardstock
Purple ink
Bling
Silver ribbon
Cuttlebug
Stylised flowers embossing folder

I wont insult you by going through the process of putting the card together as it is fairly evident from the picture what went where. I did have fun with this card and tried pens/ pencils as well as the chalk but preferred the chalk final image.

What a break

It has been so busy here lately that I have not had time to craft very much. I have been to my crafting group though and made the card below.

I really love the Iris fold and the effects you can get with it. It is so simple yet looks really effective and quite complicated!

The recipe for the card is:
Plain white cardstock for the card and top layer
Red holographic card
various strips of pink and white paper
Pink sparkly paper for the iris
white cord
Red brads
A calligraphy pen for the sentiment

I have a pattern for the balloon iris fold which I found online a while ago. I cut out the balloon shape from the white cardstock and laid a white cord over the neck part of the balloon. I then completed the pattern for the iris fold and layered the card up with the red holographic card.
I then tied a length of cord to the cord layered on the neck of the balloon and used silicone glue to seal the end to prevent fraying.

One thing I have found with the Iris fold is that it is just as effective to use one layer of paper i.e. no folds, if you have thicker paper. You can also use ribbon for a really cool effect.
